August Koehler SE paper plant – the embodiment of progress and quality

The chronology of Papierfabrik August Koehler SE is a story of global success. Yet, despite the current size of the Group, it has remained a family story.

As early as 1751, a small paper mill was established in the Rench valley near Oberkirch in the heart of Germany's Black Forest. In 1807, Otto Koehler from Ettlingen took over the mill and established the family company which, over the course of eight generations, has advanced to become an international corporation producing high-quality special papers at three locations in Germany.

Back then, his success was based upon high-quality specialities for the graphics industry and his early international orientation. Koehler has served the export markets for more than one hund red years.

The following generations developed new papermachines and new finished products. Today, thermal papers belong to Koehler's world-renowned and successful product groups. They are the company's largest revenue generator and will also secure Koehler's dynamic future growth. The reacto®  carbonless papers remain an important product segment for Koehler, and decor paper for laminates for surface application and edge banding are products established in a market with good growth potential. Koehler FineTechand Euler ColorTech Papers complete the broad product range for which the Koehler Group is renowned worldwide.

Thanks to its innovative strength and first-dass products, Koehler has established itself as a group corporation with dear structures and perspectives.

Following its corporate philosophy, the company reinvests its profits systematically in the further improvement of its products, modern production facilities and developing new qualities. This approach has proved successful over many decades. The continued success ofthe Koehler Group was - and is - based on the philosophy to place customers and staff at the centre of all our considerations.
