Leading role in sustainable development: Koehler Group Achieves Platinum Status with EcoVadis

The Koehler Group has been awarded Platinum status by internationally renowned sustainability rating platform EcoVadis. This means that the family company, of which KATZ has also been a member since 2009, is now among the top one percent of all rated companies worldwide within the mechanical pulp, chemical pulp, paper, board, and cardboard manufacturing industry. Koehler Holding SE & Co. KG was awarded an outstanding 90 out of 100 possible points for its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Sub-goal of sustainability strategy for 2030 achieved already

“This rating recognizes our achievements and performance as a company with international operations when it comes to establishing responsible business processes and consistently driving sustainable development,” says Koehler Group Sustainability Manager Jens Kriete. The company achieved this excellent result thanks to its outstanding sustainable procurement strategies and its extremely ambitious commitment to climate protection. For example, in its sustainability strategy, the Koehler Group promises to generate more energy from its own renewable sources by 2030 than required for its paper production operations.

EcoVadis, a leading platform in sustainability assessments, analyzed the CSR performance of more than 130,000 companies based on 21 criteria that conform to international standards such as UN Global Compact principles and the ISO 26000 standard. EcoVadis makes it possible for companies to transparently present their sustainability performance and position themselves as responsible businesses. CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) is a self-regulating business practice that measures the effects of an organization’s activities on society and the environment. It is becoming increasingly important for global business relationships.
